Outplacement projects provide support for employees as well as employers once an employer has decided, for whatever reason, to terminate the work relationship.
When employees leave, this can lead to more than merely a loss of knowledge and experience if the process is poorly supervised or not supervised at all.
By making an outplacement programme available, the company is demonstrating its qualities as a good employer, which can make a positive contribution to the employer’s image, both within and outside of the organisation.
The outplacement process
Many outplacement projects are started in an overly business-like manner: by focusing on the content, the involvement remains invisible. It is advisable to engage SAM Nederland’s services early on in the process, during the meetings with employees.
The SAM outplacement process employs the following steps:
- Processing the situation
Employees must cope with the anger, despair and sadness they are feeling about the (impending) loss of the job before they can move on.
- Soul-searching and profile analysis
Anyone hoping to start applying for jobs effectively must be very clear about what they want.
- Applying for jobs
Many people who end up in an outplacement project have not applied for a job in years. It is useful to take the time to remember ‘what that was like’.
- The right focus
During the entire process, the SAM outplacement coach is the candidate’s contact person and provides support, and the coach ensures that the candidate remains focused on the agreed upon plan.
As part of the outplacement project, we also provide a number of workshops with topics such as how to effectively use online social and business networks.
